Pars Skipper is a cup winner

Saturday, 1st Dec 2012

"It didn't really sink in until I left but I still have fond memories of that and the medal to remember it by."

Jordan McMillan

Jordan McMillan is looking forward to leading the team out once more against Partick Thistle. There is a feeling of deep disappointment about the way the league game turned out just three weeks ago but the Pars skipper conceded that the home team deserved to win it that day:-

"We didn't perform and it reflected on the score. It was a really good crowd, Partick rose to the occasion and we never. Now we have a chance to rectify it and we did okay against Raith Rovers after that so we have to keep going the way that it has been winning games."

Dunfermline v Raith Rovers

Not losing is possibly the most important thing this week. With it being a cup tie, a replay would obviously generate more necessary cash but even better would be a passage into the next round. Jordan reflected on the financial climate:-

"It is well documented that Scottish football has no money in it; we are not the only club that is in trouble. Things like that shouldn't bother us, we just have to go out on the park and perform. In every competition that we are in, we want to do as well as we possibly can. It is an extra for the club if we get more money but we want to win especially with it being against Partick Thistle."

Jordan McMillan is injured v Partick Thistle

Even with the poor result against Thistle last time, the team was not too down about it when they met up on the Monday morning. Jordan continued:-

"We knew we had the derby match coming up against Raith Rovers and we had to go and perform well, and we did. We did the same against Dumbarton."

JORDAN McMILLAN

Jordan has made just two Scottish Cup appearances: as a sub against Arbroath when Rangers won 4-0 at Gayfield in January this year and an hour in the tie for Hamilton against Ross County three seasons before. It is rather strange to discover that he has his own Scottish Cup Winners medal stuck away in his cabinet at home. By coincidence Graeme Smith, Thistle's stand in keeper for the injured Scott Fox also won a Scottish Cup winners medal sitting beside Jordan that day on the bench  an unused sub along with Christian Dailly in the 2008 final:-

"I sat on the bench against Queen of the South. My friend John Fleck made his debut that day and it was great. It didn't really sink in until I left but I still have fond memories of that and the medal to remember it by."
