One red enough says Dargs

Saturday, 8th Dec 2012

"There was no point in speaking to the referee about it, I would just have got myself sent off."

Craig Dargo v Livingston

Craig Dargo's emotions were still a bit raw when he spoke after the match and he chose carefully what he would say about several strange decisions made by the referee John Beaton:-

"It was a difficult game and obviously losing Callum changes things a bit. It was a big blow but we handled it reasonably well when we went down to ten men. we created a lot of chances but goals change games. They scored first despite us having a couple of chances before that."

Craig Dargo - no penalty

The 34 year old Pars striker collected a 65th minute yellow when the referee deemed that he dived. Craig was concentrating on retrieving the ball to get a chance of taking an anticipated penalty:-

"I took a touch, the boy came n and there was contact. There was no point in speaking to the referee about it, I would just have got myself sent off. Sometimes these things go for you, sometimes they go against you - you just need to get on with it.

"I was guilty of wasting a chance at 0-0 as well when eight or nine times out of ten I'd fancy myself to put it in the back of the net. We just have to get on with it, I don't think it was a bad performance from us. The work rate and endeavour was good and we were in control of the game. We had a wee wobbly spell for ten or fifteen minutes after Callum got sent off but you expect that at a man down and having to reshuffle the team.

Craig Dargo v Livingston

"At that point they had a couple of good chances but apart from that I thought we defended well and worked very hard.

"We created chances and need to be a wee bit more clinical. I will hold my hand up and say that I should have scored as well. You have got to credit Livvy, they scored a cracking goal that there was no a lot you could do about it. It was a hard one to take."

Jim Jefferies had said that there is still a long way to go in the season and Craig shared his view that both Partick Thistle and Dunfermline would slip up in the course of the rest of the season:-

"We came here to win and in the first twenty minutes we were in control. Of course it is a missed opportunity but there is always next week and the week after. It is not a sprint, we will take our time and re group for next week. We are playing well, so we will take the positives of playing seventy minutes of the game with ten men."

Craig Dargo v Livingston

Wearing his other hat as U20 coach, Craig Dargo was keen to praise the second choice goalkeeper Michal Hrivnak who came in to replace the injured Paul Gallacher:-

"All credit to Michael, the big man did well and was a stand out. I am delighted for him because he has waited for his chance. Obviously Gall is a fantastic goalkeeper who is always first choice between the sticks but Michal came in and filled his boots. He can take many positives from that."
