Millen is spot on for Pars

ROSS MILLEN

Ross Millen has a 67% success rate in taking penalties for Dunfermline but that means two out of three. Most remember him for being the extremely cool and confident 17 year old who scored in the First Division play offs last May against Forfar. That goal just seven minutes from the end of regulation 90 minutes took the play off into extra time where the Fifers two man advantage was to win the day.

In the Ramsden Cup tie at Central Park in August, Ross saw his effort from the spot saved by Cowdenbeath keeper Thomas Flynn and he had been relieved of penalty duties until Saturday. In the absence of Ryan Wallace, Jordan Moore and Stephen Husband, Ross had been appointed the designated Pars penalty taker against Brechin City and he coolly stuck it away the 90th minute penalty to win the game for his team. He was just as cool when he talked the media through the setpiece after the game on Saturday:-

"I was always going to take the penalty. I didn't convert my last one but did the one before that. It was another important one for us today and I took my time and did alright. I stayed calm, just took my time and picked my spot and thankfully it went in. It was good to get the monkey off our backs and take the three points. We got what we deserved in the end."

As a defender Ross was very appreciative of his goalkeeper Ryan Scully:-

"Hats off to Scully; he has been brilliant for us this season. He did very well for us. He is a top keeper and a very good shot stopper, if it wasn't for him we could maybe have been two or three goals down."

After making his 41st appearance for the first team Ross was not to be drawn into celebrating a potential second place finish. There is a ten point gap between Dunfermline in second and Stranraer in third. There are five matches remaining in this league campaign so there is no guarantee yet of the runners up spot that would set the Pars up with home advantage in the second leg of the first play off.

Ross stressed:- "We need at least another three points so we cannot take our foot off the gas until we get them. We need to go into the game against Airdrie next weekend and win that first before we can think about taking our foot off the gas as such. We need to take in game by game - we cannot really think about the play offs yet."
