Millen's Morton misery

Monday, 22nd Sep 2014

"We never really created enough chances and were not in the last third enough

- - Listen to this Ross Millen interview

Ross Millen scored from the spot on Saturday and was not to be put off by any other potential penalty kick takers or by former Par Andy Barrowman trying to coach his keeper David Gaston ahead of the kick.

"I was always going to go that way, that's what was on my mind anyway. When we scored I think we picked up a bit of momentum for five minutes but we never really showed enough throughout the ninety to deserve to win.

"We never really did enough. They got the breaks and were a better team than us on the day. We just need to take that on the chin.

"It is a very difficult league, Morton are another full time team who have come down from the league above. They have potential to win the league so we need to take that into consideration.

"On the day, they deserved to win and we need to go away and work on that in training and come back next week looking to win. We played better than is and on the day, we didn't turn up and they deserved the three points."

Ross returned to the first team after a week's absence through suspension following a red card in the game against Stranraer. Although recognised as a right back he has played a few games at left back in the absence of both Alex Whittle and Ross Drummond. On Saturday he was deployed on the right of a back three. He explained his role:-

"We have gone with a three before and tried it in training and it had worked. I thought we did alright at times with the three but once Ryan Williamson was injured (dead leg) we went to four at the back. We lost a goal and that was it.

"We never really created enough chances and were not in the last third enough. They took their chances and we didn't."
