After watching his team slump to their first defeat of the season, Pars manager Allan Johnston said that he felt it wrong from the start:-

"We didn't start the game well at all. In the first half Peterhead were probably by far the better team. Then in the second half we were by far the better team. We created loads of chances and we just need to be clinical when these chances come along."

The manager made an early substitution putting on Josh Falkingham for Shaun Byrne after just twenty minutes, the gaffer revealed his thoughts behind that:-

"They were winning the battle in midfield and we got too involved with that. We need to pass it better, obviously we need to compete but we need to remember to pass the ball as well. That is maybe where we maybe went wrong in the first half."

One of the first incidents involving Josh was the conceding of a penalty kick, Johnston felt that it was not the effect that he was looking for from his tactical substitution:-

"I am sure he will learn from the mistake but we cannot afford to be giving away cheap penalties like that. We had a couple of shouts in the second half. Obviously I would have to see it again on the video, but it looked like two good opportunities for penalties. Josh got down in the box and also a shot from Ryan Wallace that hit the guy's hand. The referee said that he was too close even though he is probably bigger."

All this came after Michael Moffat had headed in a 44th minute equaliser.

"The boys did well because it is a hard place to come; we knew that we would have to grind out a result, it wasn't a classic game by any means. It was a physical game and we are just disappointed to come away without a point.

"I don't think there was much in it between the two sides. We got beat by a launch up the park where they picked up the second ball. I don't know if it was a foul on Ben (Richards-Everton) or not."

The Peterhead manager Jim McInally had said that he had feared his team was fading against the full timers and Allan Johnston agreed he felt that his side had come back into the game towards the end:-

"Credit to them as well, I thought first half that they were excellent and made it really difficult for us. They created a lot of chances and we know that we cannot afford any slackness or afford to start games like that."

Tuesday night brings Dundee to East End Park on League Cup business and the manager expressed his concerns about being light in numbers:-

"We do need to bring in a couple still but the boys responded well to going a goal down but we are disappointed to lose such a poor second goal."
