Dunfermline Athletic

Manager on Friday

Friday, 12th Feb 2010

12/02/10: JM - "We will go up there and try and win the game. We've got to try and peg back the teams that are in front of us,

Andy Dowie v Ross County

Jim McIntyre announced that his long term injuries of Graham Bayne, Steven McDougall and Stephen Glass are still out for the game tomorrow in Dingwall along with Calum Woods who was injured in the cup tie against Celtic on Sunday.

The Pars have played RossCounty twice already this season with both games ending in a draw.  Macca was full of admiration for his opponents style and achievements this season:-

"Ross County play the game the right way, they pass and move it and have some exciting players there.  They have done fantastically well this season and we know their home form is exceptional. It is a real difficult place to go.

"In the two games we played against them this year, we gave a good account of ourselves. It is important that we keep the back door shut and defend properly, if we do then we've got a chance.

RossCounty and Dunfermline have both scored plenty of goals lately and that should indicate another entertaining game at Victoria Park.

"Both teams like to attack and play football, so I'm expecting an entertaining game.

Asked how they were going to stop RossCounty scoring- reply was:-

"That's the defenders job!  It was 0-0 up there and 3-3 down here, we will go up there and try and win the game.  We've got to try and peg back the teams that are in front of us, that is our aim.

The Pars Manager hopes to take the positives from the display against Celtic on Sunday into the match against the team that currently sit second and within kicking distance of leaders, Dundee:-

"I thought we gave a good account of ourselves, but yet again we gave away bad goals.  The boys did really well especially the first half. They passed it well and had an end product on it, so that was pleasing."

Celtic had the luxury of bringing on top quality players for the second half and the gaffer freely admitted he was happy to see that they were not starting:-

"I was quite glad to see Keane and McGeady on the bench but Celtic didn't need to work too hard for the goals.  On other occasions, Fleming had some great saves. You are always going to get that against the Old Firm, they are always going to dominate possession and have more chances than you."

Turning back to his squad for RossCounty he concluded by confirming that new signing Gary Mason would be in the squad to travel:-

"He has settled in fine and is back in the swing of things.  He is obviously short of match practice but will be in the squad tomorrow."
