Manager Post Timisoara
Wednesday, 9th Jul 2008"We knew that they were a top quality team, we knew they'd be stiff opposition so it was a great learning curve for us. It was a real hard working exercise.
Jim McIntyre commented immediately after the pre season friendly against CF Timisoara in Bischofshofen:-
"We knew that they were a top quality team, we knew they'd be stiff opposition so it was a great learning curve for us. It was a real hard working exercise. I thought the players showed great work rate in trying to close them down.
"They have top players and a standard above us. It was a very very good game for us to take. They are laying in the UEFA Cup and you could see the size of them. They are big guys and the wee guys were so nimble. The Armenian captain - what a player he was! (Artiom Karamyan)."
The Manager confessed that he would not be following up an interest in trailist Joseph Laumann but was happy with his other trialist goalkeeper, Callum Reidford.
"He acquitted himself well. He was up against a side who put in some quality crosses and don't get me wrong, we want to defend them better but they are four games ahead of us in terms of preparation. They play in a higher standard of league than we do, so I thought for Callum his handling and he didn't any chance with the goals.
"Stephen Glass and Calum Woods came through the game fine. It was just important to take care of them and not give them too much game time in their first games.
"It was a great learning curve too for youngsters Paul Willis and Scott McBride to come on against players like that."
