Manager Post Stirling

Tuesday, 15th Mar 2011

15/03/11: JM - "They had the lions share of luck tonight for sure allied with our bad finishing which is as poor as we have been in front of goal.

Pars at Stirling: Graham Bayne, Red Card for Doyle, Liam Buchanan

Jim McIntyre felt that his team dominated the game but were punished for not putting the ball away:-

"I am disappointed with the result but not disappointed with the way they played. I thought they were magnificent; we were fantastic going forward but we just couldn't get the ball in the net. It is the most one sided game that I have been involved in. You have to give Stirling a lot of credit; they were throwing bodies in and made good blocks. They had the lions share of luck tonight for sure allied with our bad finishing which is as poor as we have been in front of goal.

"It was another poor goal for us to give away. It starts with just being a bit sloppy and then not defending the cross properly. The break of the ball at the edge of the box and the boy sticks it away. We should have been three or four up before that, we haven't done so. They had a man sent off and we said to them at half time to keep believing and keep doing what you are doing and the goals will come. They did that; we didn't resort to launching the ball forward. They kept passing it and moving it, cutting them open but we just couldn't get the ball over the line."

Andy Kirk was the only one of the numerous Pars players handed a striking role to hit the net:-

"Three out of the four of them had another couple of chances each so on another day they go in. It was poor finishing, we cannot disguise that - we should have buried the game, the game should have been done and dusted before half time and that's not including the rake of chances we created after half time. We have not taken them, so if you don't take your chances you are always leaving yourself open."

The Manager felt a wrong decision let Michael Mullen in for a chance near the end that could have ended in tears:-

"Poor defending and we gift another chance. That's not good enough, we spoke about keeping concentrated at the back because we knew that we would have a lot of the ball. One lapse of concentration and the boy was clean through but it was a fantastic save by big Smith. I think if that had gone in it would have been one of the most unjust results you ever get.

"We go again on Saturday but every game is different. On another day I'd like to think that we would take a few of these chances. I am certainly hopeful but we need to approach it in the same manner as tonight but add the goals."

Stirling v Dunfermline

Stirling Albion manager, Jocky Scott praised his side:-

"The effort they put in was fantastic. To play 45 minutes with ten men and have an opportunity to win the game late on was a great showing by the boys.

"We were not pleased with the goal that we lost; losing one so early in the game but they battled away, worked hard and did well in the end. It was very very difficult for us because they are a good side especially in the attacking sense. With the extra man they put us under a lot of pressure but I will take the point."
