01/02/14: JJ - "We deserved to win and I thought the new boys coming in gave us that bit of quality.

Jim Jefferies

Conditions were "hellish" for both teams but Jim Jefferies felt that his side dominated the first half and should have been further ahead at half time.

"The performance was worthy of being three or four up. We certainly had the chances including the penalty miss and I thought that we were better against the wind rather than playing with the wind.

"We deserved to win and I thought the new boys coming in gave us that bit of quality. Three of them made their debuts and two of them scored. It has been a good bit of business. These boys have come from Premier League situations into this league and I thought that they were all terrific. They have to get to know each other. You can do it in training but games help. Page in the back three was terrific, Ross Millen did well coming back in and Lewis Martin was solid.

"Danny (Grainger) is just delighted to be back playing; Ross Forbes enjoys his football, he was up for it and I thought Ross was outstanding today. Some of the passes he put through in the first half should have been finished. He put inch perfect passes through three times in the first half and they should have been put in the back of the net because the passes laid it on a plate for them.

ROSS FORBES

"We now have a strong squad when you consider who was out today. Geggan was out through suspension, Allan Smith out not well and this is the important part -when everybody is involved in the business end of the season. We are probably not there yet but its just around the corner and we should not let things slip.

"In the last couple of weeks we have done that - particularly at Brechin when we were so far in front. East Fife is a difficult place and they have improved picking up a couple of decent results. When you see the conditions, it was never going to be an easy game.

"We changed the system a little today to suit one or two and it worked well. We played the conditions well.

"I have got to say that I thought that we were a different class today in terms of new boys coming in. From my point of view the competition is magnificent to know that you have a right good strong squad to choose from.

"We are unfortunate two (Forbes and Grainger) will miss the cup tie but we have brought them in because we want to get promoted. First of all we have to make the play-offs and another win today takes us a step closer."
