Kevin Rutkiewicz
Squad No.5
Contracted until May 2012
Kevin Rutkiewicz joined Dunfermline on loan from St Johnstone in February 2011 and was rewarded with a one year contract for season 2011-12.
The commanding centre half was at St Johnstone for six and a half years, captaining the side for two, and appearing in over 100 games. Prior to St Johnstone Kevin made over 50 appearances for fellow SPL side Aberdeen.
Born in Glasgow on 10th May, 1980 Kevin began his career at Larkhall Thistle before signing his first professional contract at just 18 for Aberdeen. He went on to make his professional debut in 1999, and amassed 53 appearances in total during his 6 year stay with the club. Rutkiewicz's breakthrough in the side came in 2002/03 when he established himself firmly in the sides first choice XI.
When John Connolly took charge of St Johnstone he immediately set about making Rutkiewicz his first signing and the heart of what would go on to become one of the best defences in Scotland. The fresh challenge and increased responsibility brought the best out of Kevin with his passionate and determined performances seeing him become a firm fans favourite. His progression as a player continued under Owen Coyle, (now manager of Bolton Wanderers) and culminated in him being made captain of the side for the start of the 2008/09 season, a position he still held going into the 2010/11 season.
As well as a stellar football career Rutkiewicz is an accomplished musician having played a number of successful live gigs and whose demo tracks have received interest from a number of record labels. You can buy his album 'Handwritten' on iTunes from this link
