Josh's Ibrox Goal

Saturday, 15th Mar 2014

"We've got to go and look at being the first team to beat them.

JOSH FALKINGHAM

Josh Falkingham is recovering having picked up a niggling Achilles injury in the match at Stair Park a couple of weeks ago. He related his tale of woe:-

"The way it was, playing on it with the games coming thick and fast, it's probably just been a case of over-use really. It wasn't like a dead leg where you can just get on with it, it was causing me a bit of bother and in the Stranraer game unfortunately I had to come off.

"It wasn't a panic but if I did snap it then it can be really serious, and that would kill you for the play-offs. But I'm looking to get back fit and hopefully I can look at the weekend."

It's the fourth game between the sides this season so the Pars players can treat it like any normal match, Josh, the only Pars scorer in three games v Rangers, agreed:-

"We've got used to these games now. It's not a case of the one-offs, although in a sense they are a little bit.

"Fair play to Rangers, they deserve to take a lot of credit for what they have done this year. There's a lot of media coverage on them which takes the onus off us, for instance, and we can sneak under the radar.

"To go on for that amount of games - I think it's 26 wins and two draws - sometimes you have just got to take your hat off to them. You've got to give credit where credit's due and congratulate them on getting the league, but we know what our targets are and what we set out to do at the start of the season and we're well on track for that.

"Obviously we'll be going into the game in a win-win situation - nobody really expects anything, you can go in and enjoy the game and try to be yourself and play the way you want to play. I felt we did that in one of the games out of the three.

"You have to take your hat off to Rangers in the home game where we got beat 4-0, I really did see a difference in them from the first game and I thought they played well that night.

"And then the third game unfortunately we can't think too much about. We just didn't turn up. It wasn't a case of them playing so well, we just had a really bad night and I think if we had been playing anybody that night we would have been given a battering. So we've got to forget about that and look forward to the game on Saturday and be full of confidence."

Discussing the possibility of Rangers winning the league would work in Dunfermline's favour Josh said:- "I think to be honest it will be an interesting one. If it had been anybody else winning the league it might have worked for us, but because it's Rangers they are expected to win the league.

"If we had won the league we would not have expected it and we might have been - not getting drunk - but partying or whatever, but I think Rangers will be very professional about it.

"It's what they expected, it's what they knew they were going to do, so I'd be very, very surprised if we went there and sensed they had a bit of a hangover or something like that from winning the league.

"I fully expect to go there and it will be as tough as any game there, because they have still got a lot to play for. It could work for us, it could work against us, and the game on Monday against Albion Rovers is obviously vital for them now, so you never know.

"It would be massive for them to go the whole league season unbeaten, and that's something that we've got to go and look at being the first team to beat them.

"Obviously there have been a few teams who have picked off points against them but they are still unbeaten, so we'll be desperate to break that run. We feel that we're a good enough side to do that and we believe in ourselves. To be honest, we go into every game wanting to win and that's what we've done all season."
