Joe's fifteen and love for Pars

Friday, 29th Apr 2016

"To win that with so many games to play, the first team in the UK to win their league was an unbelievable achievement

Joe Cardle has told the website just how much he enjoys his football at Dunfermline. He was glad to have signed a new two year deal, he said:-

"It was an ongoing saga; the week we won the league I spoke to the club and like everyone else it went back and forth. It was great to get something sorted and secure my future for the next two years.

"I have a young family and we like it here in Dunfermline. It is a good chemistry and I have had a great season this season. The team have been fantastic and enjoyed their football and that is half the battle. Scoring goals, making goals and winning games has a massive part to do with it and hopefully we can continue that next season."

To win the league was the principle reason Joe signed at Dunfermline and he accepted that came with its pressures, he continued:-

"To win that with so many games to play, the first team in the UK to win their league was an unbelievable achievement. Credit to everyone involved, it is not just the players - there is Potts, Sandy and the gaffer every day.

"The standard every day in training has been fantastic but we deserved to win it in such a good way. It has been an unbelievable season for everyone involved including myself. To score fifteen goals is the best record of my career so I am very happy for myself and the team's performances."

Joe is fit for a return against Peterhead and the chance to add to those 15 goals. He would love to play since his last start was at Cowdenbeath on 19th March and had ten minutes at Albion Rovers.

"I haven't played a lot recently but I am dying to play on Saturday because it is such a special day for the club.

"We want the three points, we have not picked up many of late but the last game of the season with attract a big crowd and a special day for everyone. To top it all for everyone would be three points.

"I am going to enjoy my summer, get a good wee break with my family but I can't wait to get started in the Championship. It will be a better standard of league, playing in bigger stadiums against better opposition. I am looking forward to it."
