Jim McIntyre Post Saints

Jim McIntyre was happy to get a point but not happy with the performance, especially in the first half.

"That was very poor from us, we never got to grips with St Johnstone at all. We were well off the pace as a team and it just wasn't acceptable.

"We have got a lot of resilience now although we didn't play great.  We didn't pass the ball well in the first half and to be fair, St Johnstone were sharper and more alert than us - brighter.  In the second we started to pass the ball a wee bit and got our just reward."

Macca would not agree with an interviewer who felt that St Johnstone had much more to play for:-

"We've got something to play for as well. We've got to finish at least fourth to get into a higher round in the Scottish Cup next year so that's incentive enough for us.  We have fans who are travelling every week as well that we have to bust a gut for.  So I don't buy into that there's nothing to play for.

"You've got professional pride as well. We're paid well so it's up to us to get there - it's the best job in the world."

The gaffer thought that Stevie Crawford's goal was excellent:-

"It was a great ball from Greg Shields, I managed to get a touch.  We linked well but how he got it in from that angle?  He's just Stevie Crawford, a very good finisher.

"I shouted for him to cut it back actually. I don't know if that's made the defender hesitate slightly, but he took it expertly, especially from that angle.  It was good close control running with it.  I think the defender was frightened to touch him in the box in case he mistimed it.

"Stevie took a bad dunt early doors, but credit to him he shrugged it off and got on with it. He'll have a bruised calf tonight that's for sure, it was a sore one."
