Greg Paterson Post QOS

"I felt I did OK although I came off the park 2-0 down not having had one save to make or one cross to come for.

Greg Paterson

Greg Paterson was delighted to get the start at Dumfries even though it came more than three months after he'd have liked. Back on 1st December when injury kept Greg Fleming out, Jim McIntyre brought in Chris Smith for the match against Queen of the South at Palmerston Park on an emergency loan from St Mirren. More than three months on Greg finally got selected ahead of Greg Fleming ironically at Palmerston. Last Wednesday Jim McIntyre had informed Greg that he'd be starting

"The gaffer just wanted to change it after the game on Tuesday. He told me to get my head switched on and it was good to be told early. I got my chance and I just wanted to take it. I felt I did OK although I came off the park 2-0 down not having had one save to make or one cross to come for.

"We should have taken our chances and the difference is they took theirs. The first goal came through a ruck of bodies, I got my fingertips to it but I saw it very late. The second goal was a cross ball again, it just bounced and the boy (Weatherston) just turned and put it in the back of the net.

"My kicking was fine but that doesn't matter because at the end of the day we got beat. I don't think we need to be too bothered about my performance. It is a knock back in the title hopes but we just need to go out against Dundee and try and play like we have been playing in the last couple of weeks before this."

Greg claimed that the defence in front of him accepted him into the side seamlessly:-

"I have played with them before in the reserves and know the boys fine from training."

"I'd like to keep my place, there is no doubt about that - it is up to the gaffer but if wants to put Flem back in for his experience that is football. I'd like to get more games for next season."
