Former Hibernian midfielder Stephen Glass has signed a two-year deal with Dunfermline, becoming the latest addition to Stephen Kenny's squad.

The midfielder, who was part of last year's Pars team on loan from the Edinburgh side, penned a contract which will keep him at East End Park until the end of May 2009. Without wasting time however, he is currently scheduled to play his first game less than 24 hours after signing, in DAFC's pre-season friendly against Brechin.

Speaking shortly after the signing, Director of Football, Jim Leishman said he was delighted with the new signing:-

"Stephen Glass is a very good professional footballer, who plays at the highest standard and brings good balance to the side and is a good addition to the squad."

Stephen's footballing career began in the North at Aberdeen, where he quickly started to make a name for himself. In the 1995 League Cup win over Dundee, he set up both of the goals to ensure that firstly the cup went home with Aberdeen and he went home with the man of the match award.

From his impressive start in Aberdeen he moved south to the Premiership where he joined Newcastle United in 1998. Despite several injuries throughout his time at Newcastle he was able to play in the cup final match against Manchester United at Wembley.

Following his time with the Magpies, he moved to Watford as one of several signings by then manager Gianluca Vialli. He stayed here until 2003 when he made his way back to Scotland to sign for Hibernian, debuting against Dundee United. After several seasons with the side he travelled to East End Park on loan following the appointment of Hibs manager John Collins.

During his loan, he scored three goals and played 11 games for the club, and according to Stephen Kenny, will be an asset for the forthcoming season.

"I think Stephen is an excellent professional. He has a calming presence and very good vision as well as a good range of passing.

"He's coming here to try and help us win the First Division. He's turned down a club in the Premier League to sign for us because he enjoyed his football here and he was a good influence around the dressing room. I think he will be an asset for the season ahead."
