Signed in 1955 from Dunipace Juniors for £100, George made a remarkable 421 appearances, putting him in fourth place in the list of all time Pars appearances. An outside right, he still scored a total of 85 goals, including 6 in European competitions.
Although George didn't score in the cup final victory, it was his cross that Dave Thomson headed home for the first goal. In the famous Inter City Fairs Cup game against Valencia, George scored the first and fifth goals. His second goal was a beauty, chesting down an overhead kick by Alex Smith, racing past the defence and scoring from 12 yards.
After 11 years at the club, George transferred to Stirling Albion for £4,000 in August 1966, where he was a player, coach and finally manager.
