Gary Mason Post Motherwell

Wednesday, 25th Jan 2012

"A result could have taken us off the bottom but it wasn't to be."

Gary Mason v Motherwell

Gary Mason reflected the mood of the players when he spoke after the match.

"We are disappointed especially after Motherwell went down to ten men. They made it difficult after that and made it look like they got a lift from it. After the good result on Saturday, coming here to try and get a bit of momentum going especially from the game in hand. A result could have taken us off the bottom but it wasn't to be."

The ten men took the lead through their latest find, 20 year old Estonian Henrik Ojamma, Gary continued:-

"It gave them a lift at that time. They knocked the ball about well and caused us problems. They didn't really change their shape as such; they kept two boys upfront and that forced us back a bit. We couldn't get out at times.

"It would have been nice to have built on what we did on Saturday but it wasn't to be a good night for us."

The Pars captain claimed not to have had a good view of Andy Dowie being taken down for what might have been a first half penalty award:-

"We had a couple of corners as well prior to that where Rutkiewicz hit one and Liam had a header cleared off the line. If they had gone in that might have galvanised us but it never. Kirkie took his goal well after a good ball in from Paddy (Boyle). They scored five or ten minutes after it and it was hard to get back into the game after that."

The Motherwell fans got very vocal after the sending off: and life did not getting any easier for the Fifers-

" They are a good side and they showed that tonight."

"It would have been nice to go above Hibs tonight but it was not to be. We have to look forward to Saturday now but it is a hard trip to Aberdeen. The games are coming thick and fast so we want to make sure that we start winning games. Kilmarnock was a great result but we have to build on that."

That result at Rugby Park appeared to come following some reported home truths in the dressing room but Gary didn't want to go into what had been said at Fir Park.
