Dunfermline District Cub Scout Centenary Fun Day

150 Cub Scouts representing every Scout Group in Dunfermline gather at East End Park

Through the efforts of a number of dedicated Cub Scout Leaders and the support of many of the parents, Cub Scouts within the Dunfermline District came together to celebrate one hundred years of Cub Scouting by having fun, meet new friends and demonstrate what Scouting is all about.

Dunfermline District Cub Scout Centenary Fun Day on Sunday 1st May, saw over 150 Cub Scouts representing every Scout Group in Dunfermline gather at East End Park home of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club at the kind invitation of the Managing Director Ross McArthur, himself a former Scout of the 39th Fife Scout Group.

Cubs had the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities which included a Bouncy Castle, 50’ Assault Course, Sumo Suits, 5-side football, Beat the Goalie, Curling, Space hoppers, Parachute, Target Darts, and outdoor games.

To the delight of the Cubs, Ross McArthur proudly displayed the League One championship cup for the Cubs to hold and admire, probably the envy of many a young football supporter.

During the event Cameron O’Brien 3rd Fife Cub Pack said ‘This is great fun, and if it happens again I will encourage all my friends to come’, and Sophie Edwards 2nd Fife summed up the day nicely by saying ‘This is the best day ever’.

Near the end of event one more surprise was in store for the Cub Scouts, a prize draw was made and the winner received a football signed by all the players of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.

Don Yard Assistant District Commissioner for Cub Scouts said ‘Just saying thank you to Ross barely reflects our appreciation for his commitment to helping Scouts within the community by allowing our Cub Scouts to hold the event at East End Park which turned out to be a huge success’.
