Defeat but battle is not over

Liam Buchanan:- "We have just got to look after ourselves and pick up as many victories as we can.

Liam Buchanan scores v Hibs

Liam Buchanan came off the bench to score for the third time this season as substitute but this time it was a bitter sweet experience as his side slumped to their sixth home defeat in their tenth home game of the season.

"I don't think the goal means too much now since its another defeat. We just have to keep plodding on, fighting and scrapping.

"We were unlucky a couple of times; Joe Cardle cut inside and had a good shot, Barrowman was close to getting on the end of one. We are creating chances but just not getting that wee break of the ball to fall the other side of the defender for a tap in. There are definitely positives to take from it."

"It was one of our best performances since probably the game at Easter Road that we won. The boys were good against Hibs and a little unlucky not to take something from the game."

Despite being a well known Hibs supporter Liam Buchanan would dearly send them down if it meant Dunfermline's SPL status was preserved.

"We will certainly not be giving up, there is still a long way to go to start saying that we are bottom of the league and we are going to stay there. You cannot ever question the boys desire and willingness."

Liam was desperately disappointed with the result since the team all wanted the win that would have taken them above Hibs rather than four points behind:-

"They came here and won but there is still plenty time left in the season for us to pick up victories and points to climb off the bottom of the league."

The 26 year old who joined the Pars from Partick Thistle this time last year dismissed suggestions that relegation would ultimately be only between Hibs and Dunfermline:-

"There will be twists and turns, all it takes is a couple of teams going on a winning run and other teams would start to be dragged into it. We have just got to look after ourselves and pick up as many victories as we can. If we can start getting the clean sheets that we were getting at the start of the season, winning 1-0 games then I am sure we will be fine."

Next up is the William Hill Scottish Cup Fourth Round Replay at East End Park on Wednesday night, something that Liam appreciated since it gives him and his team mates a quick chance to re-dress the reverse against Hibs.
