DAFC Board Restructure

Thursday, 25th Oct 2012

with a firm focus on youth development

East End Park

The DAFC Board has this week undergone a major restructure relating to its commitments.

The Board has been reorganised into two parts - the main DAFC Board concerned with matters relating to the First Team and the running of East End Park, and a second Board, named Black and White and a 100 % subsidiary of DAFC, focussed purely on developing the Club's existing Youth Programme and U20's team.

This decision reflects DAFC's continuing commitment to nurturing and supporting youth talent and mirrors the already successful combination of youth and experience that exists in the Club's new First Team.

DAFC Chairman, John Yorkston stated, "The focus on youth is essential to the ongoing development of the club and we can see from the recent exciting games and great results how important it is to support our youth talent. This restructure ensures maximum focus on the important roles within the Club. Our ultimate aim remains to return DAFC to the SPL."

A number of the original board members including Craig McWhirter and Chris McBay, will now be in charge of Youth Development. The remaining board members will focus on the management of East End Park, commercial activities, community programmes and the first team.

Craig McWhirter added "The affairs of the Youth programme have been operated through Black and White for almost three seasons, so this is not a new development. The SFA have been delighted by our approach, and having a youth specific Board allows us to focus on youth matters alone. I have also been working very closely with the first team manager to ensure there is a pathway and this will continue, and possibly extend, in the future."

All parties involved welcome the revised structure and are committed to ensuring its success and the efficient running Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.
