Dycey is over the moon - boot

After signing for Dunfermline Callum Fordyce was confident that he had joined the club that would win League One. The centre back had left Livingston to cross the Forth and join the Pars just a week before his 23rd birthday in June 2015.

Callum was appointed club captain and things were looking great for him until after 10 appearances with the Pars sitting top of the league, he broke his leg and damaged his ankle. That unfortunate injury occured on 12th September in the home match against Ayr United.

For the rest of the season the player who came through the youth system at Livingston, has watched from the sidelines. Thankfully that has not proved to be a bad picture. Speaking exclusively to the club's website after the title winning victory over Brechin on Saturday, Callum said:-

"I have not featured for nearly seven months now but the boys have been brilliant. They have given everything that they have got. We have a couple of games where we have nicked it at the end and had to dig in deep and they have done that.

"Like the gaffer said after the game, we deserved it and we have been the best team by far. Credit to all the boys, they have worked their socks off and as they showed against Brechin, dug in and got the goal to confirm it."

Promotion was the goal of all thirteen of the players who joined Dunfermline at the start and during the season. Callum was pleased but disappointed because he was not playing.

"When I first signed it was because I wanted to win the league. The gaffer has said that from the start and stressed that we wanted to go up this year. That was my aim as soon as I signed. Getting injured was unfortunate but that happens in football, you just have to bounce back."

Having watched from the stand for such a lengthy period after the leg break and dislocated ankle injury. He claimed that it had been a very frustrating time for him:-

"I have had two operations and have watched the games with big Ryan Williamson - he must be fed up with me now. All you want is the boys to do well. Football is not easy at times."

The club captain has four seasons of experience in the Championship / First Division with Livingston and he is confident that Dunfermline can compete at that level:-

"Faiss has been terrific this season, he is by far one of the best strikers that I have ever played with. The other boys have been chipping in - Geggs, Joe, Moff - it is a credit to them all. We just need to move on to next season now and perform the exact same. We have worked really hard this year and we have done well."

Callum gave an update on his recovery from operations, the last of which was in February:-

"On Tuesday I got my moon boot off, everything has gone really well and looking positive. The surgeon said that he was really pleased with it and felt that I was maybe a week ahead of schedule so hopefully by the end of the season I should be running. My aim is to be back for pre season."

Like everybody else Callum does not have a contract for next season but he is hopeful one will soon be offered.

"Nobody has. Obviously until winning the league it was hard to know where everybody stood with the gaffer. Hopefully now everything can come together for the boys and myself."
