Wednesday, 21st Sep 2011

Bill Gilby hangs up his boots as Saturday was his last game in his official capacity, taking him to 30 years of service to DAFC almost to the day.

Many people have come and gone through the doors at East End Park, especially over the last 30 years. One man however has become a main stay at East End Park over those 30 years, that man being Bill Gilby.

Bill, a retired Police Officer, has seen the club go through 11 managers, countless numbers of players and indeed the biggest change as the stadium changed from a 19,900 capacity to an all seated capacity of 11,790 when the stadium was made all seated from 1997 to 2002.

For match day visitors to our Kingdom Suite, Jock Stein Suite and the Boardroom, Bill will be a familiar face having looked after the Boardroom at East End Park for most of his 30-year service. Bill also helped the club by providing his services as a toastmaster on many occasions and was honoured in the DAFC Hall of Fame in 2007/2008.

Saturday was Bill's last game in his official capacity, taking him to 30 years of service to DAFC almost to the day. He has been granted a honorary membership to the Rennie Suite here at East End Park, and will be remembered for many years to come here at East End Park.

All the Board and staff at DAFC would like to wish Bill well in his well-earned retirement.
