Austin McCann Post Dundee

Saturday, 23rd Oct 2010

"Dundee pummelled us for the whole of the second half and we just couldn't seem to get up the other end. We never created much either which puts defending as a whole under pressure.

A subdued Austin McCann revealed that it was not a happy away dressing room after just taking a draw from Dens Park:-

"Going in 2-0 up at Dens Park you think you can only throw it away and that is exactly what we did. The positive is taking a point but from the position we were in, at the end of the day it is not good enough. We know we didn't play well today but hopefully we can look at things and rectify them next week"

The Pars captain felt that the decision for the opening Dunfermline goal from the penalty spot was a bit harsh.

"The ball was smashed against the boy who was only five or six yards away. It was maybe a lucky one and the second one I never really saw. I crossed it in but I lost track of what happened but it was a definite hand ball.

"It was a good feeling to go 2-0 up and a great position to be in. We hoped to be solid and come away with three points but losing a goal just after half time put us under pressure for the whole of the second half. Eventually Dundee got their equaliser and it was a difficult one to take.

"The Manager has been making it known to us in the dressing room there, this is not good enough. We didn't start the first half well either but we got punished for it in the second half. Dundee bombarded us and we were maybe lucky to come away with a draw in the end."

Dunfermline were 2-0 up at half time at Dingwall last season and Oz drew a parallel with that day:-

"We played some good stuff but drew that game. 2-0 is a dangerous scoreline because the next goal is massive and to score it so soon after the restart put us under pressure. What happened happened.

"Dundee pummelled us for the whole of the second half and we just couldn't seem to get up the other end. We never created much either which puts defending as a whole under pressure. Eventually Dundee got their goal, it is disappointing.

Austin missed the match against Ross County last weekend after injuring his medial ligament in the match at Dumfries:-

"I went in for a 50-50 against Queen of the South and kind of opened up my medial ligament a wee bit. I was sent for a scan but it was nothing too serious. I trained yesterday so the Manager decided to throw me back in. It was good to get back in the side and I felt OK, I felt weak a couple of times but managed to get through the 90 minutes."

Next up is Stirling who hit four goals past Partick Thistle on Saturday and Oz is already looking forward to that game at East End Park:-

"We got a good result against them at Forthbank earlier on in the season, even though there were spells in that game where we put them under pressure. We know what to expect next week and it is good to have a home game where we hope to get back on the winning trail.

"Stirling got a draw last week against Dundee and we know that they are well capable of picking up results along the way and we will need to be wary of that."
