Dunfermline Athletic

Appreciation for fans from Andy

Sunday, 17th Mar 2013

"I love playing against Raith and after I got my goal today I thought that I could have added another couple.

Andy Geggan claims that he enjoys playing against Raith Rovers every time they are his opponents but this is especially true when he is in a Pars strip. Andy has scored two goals for Dunfermline since signing from Ayr United in the summer of last year and both these goals have been against Raith Rovers.

"I thought that we were going to sneak it in the end. In the second half I felt Raith were defending most of the time; we were the better team.

Andy Geggan celebrates his second ever Pars goal

Geggan's goal got the Pars back on level terms after falling behind to a Greig Spence first half goal. He rightly claimed that Dunfermline could have won it as they had the better chances in the final quarter and were also denied at least two penalties that might have been given by other match officials. Great team spirit is the attribute that the 25 year old midfielder puts down to the side's ability to put up such a good fight in difficult circumstances. He was asked if he had contemplated that the match against Raith Rovers might have been Dunfermline Athletic's last.

"On the park I thought we looked ourselves again. I have not been told anything at all about what's going on. I just keep seeing it on Facebook and Twitter, the fans keep talking about it. A lot of people are saying that this could be the end, obviously it is in our heads but we will keep kicking on and hopefully next week we will know better. I hope its not the last game, fingers crossed."

Andy Geggan

Andy paid tribute to the number of Pars fans that turned out at Starks Park. At 1951 that was more than ten times the size of the support for the previous Saturday's away fixture at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie.

"An unbelievable amount of fans came today. That was absolutely brilliant and you heard the noise from them right from the start - it kept us going. Fair play to them. We have got to appreciate the travelling support in a derby game."

Andy Geggan

With all the uncertainty surrounding the Club and the late payments of wages, Andy has been quoted elsewhere in being interested in a job and going part time with his football

"That wants to be the last thing in my head right now. I have something lined up if I want to do it. It is a job on a construction site but I'd rather be full time, that is my number one priority but at the end of the day if I am not getting paid I need to do something."
