Alex Keddie Post Rangers

Saturday, 3rd Dec 2011

"You need a wee bit of luck coming to Ibrox; maybe we didn't get it with my own goal. I couldn't do anything about it, it hit me on the hip and spun over Gall.

Alex Keddie v Rangers

Alex Keddie thought that apart from the first twenty minutes, Dunfermline put up a good performance against the SPL leaders:-

"We pushed Rangers right to the end after starting to play our own passing game. For the first twenty minutes the occasion got to us but after that I thought we settled well. Some might have thought the game was finished after that but no I think we gave a good account of ourselves then."

Dunfermline were doing well to keep Rangers out until Alex's own goal in 21st minute, not that the 30 year old central defender could do very much to avoid it:-

"You need a wee bit of luck coming to Ibrox; maybe we didn't get it with my own goal. I couldn't do anything about it, it hit me on the hip and spun over Gall. Any other day it might hit the post or maybe edge by, but that just wasn't to be."

Two own goals in back to back games is a bit of a record, Alex explained the own goal against Aberdeen as well:-

"I was stretching and I probably won't score a header like that at the other end; it's just the way it is."

The Pars went 2-0 down after Nikica Jelavic scored from the penalty spot, but then shocked Rangers when they scored just two minutes later:-

"Joe Cardle gives us penetration going forward and he took his goal very well, it was a good ball from Martin Hardie. We have got this in our locker, we just need to produce it a bit more often and make sure that we are not shipping goals at the back.

Rangers 1 Dunfermline 0

"Rangers like to play football. The better teams like to pass, pass, pass. It is not a constant barrage where they are just pumping balls in. We contained them very well but unfortunately didn't get the result that we wanted."

It wasn't to be but Alex certainly had a good opportunity to pour further woe on McCoist's team from a corner two minutes from the end of normal time:-

"I tried to header it too hard. I should have let it hit me and controlled the header rather than put the power through it.

"That's us been to Ibrox and Parkhead now and we have given a good account of ourselves on the two occasions. We got beat twice, that will not change, but if you take the positives from the way we passed the ball and pressed I think we could maybe kick on and pick up some points."

The next opportunity is at home to Kilmarnock but three points would need the Pars to register their first home win of the season:-

"We want to get off the duck at home but we don't look at whether we are at home or away."

St Mirren's home defeat at the hands of Caley Thistle means that Dunfermline drop to eleventh in the league with the Inverness club on 15 points going one point clear of both the Pars and Hibs. Alex expressed a view:-

"There's a long way to go. It's not even Christmas yet. Caley will pick up points and drop points, so will we but we need to make sure that come the end of May that we are in the right position."
