Andy Kirk v Motherwell

Alex Keddie was disappointed with his side's first half performance:-

"It was definitely the hardest first half so far this season; we came up against a very good experienced SPL side who have got off to a flyer this year. It was tough going but come the second half we found our feet and pressed the game a bit better. We got a bit more positive, got more of the ball, got it down and started to play the way we know we can and got the rewards in the end.

"We are going to come up against very good sides who have played in the SPL for years; they know how to play at this level and we have to combat that whether at home or away."

The Motherwell attack presented Dunfermline with a great amount of difficulties. Alex said:-

"They are very good players first and foremost. Sometimes its a gamble whether you go or you don't. Sometimes you need to hold off and let them have the ball. Murphy is being raved about in the papers and rightly so because he is a very good player. Higdon is a big lad and hard and physical to play against. They have a mix of everything that means you have to be on your toes."

As they found to get to grips with Motherwell, the central defender felt that to stand off a team too much as they did in the first half, is an invitation to be punished:-

"We didn't turn up and they played very good football. We re-grouped at half time, worked out how they were playing and how we could combat that. We did that and gave a good account of ourselves in the second half..

"We scored two good goals, maybe we could have scored another but the fourth killed the game. Had we kept it 2-0 as long as possible and sneaked a goal then the pressure would have been on them."
