A product of Rosshall Academy and Harmony Row Boys Club. Joined Dunfermline at U15 level and has developed into an uncompromising midfielder. Made his first team debut in the MG Alba Challenge Cup against Queen of the South on Wednesday 20th August 2008.
Went out on loan to Albion Rovers for experience in February 2010. While with the Rovers he made 15 appearances and scored one goal. The following season he featured 11 times and then in 2011-12 made 29 appearances in SPL and cup games.
With twelve goals to his name he was Jim Jefferies' most used player in 2012-13 with 30 starts and 10 sub appearances. In 2013-14 lack of strikers meant that Ryan was used as a stand in striker for most of the season.
