Gary joined the coaching staff at East End Park in June 2015 to take up the position as the Club`s Sports Scientist.
Prior to joining the Pars, McColl had a 4 year stint in the US where he completed his bachelors degree in Exercise Science while on a soccer scholarship at Missouri Valley College. Upon the completion of his degree, McColl then went on to play full time with Des Moines Menace of the PDL before a succession of injuries brought his playing days to a premature end.
On his return to Scotland, McColl returned to university and completed his masters degree in Strength & Conditioning at the University of Edinburgh. It was at this time he worked as a sports scientist with the Hearts Academy, Hearts Ladies and the SFA’s National Performance Centre.
McColl’s duties include planning and implementing all strength based conditioning, conducting and analysing all field based fitness testing, monitoring training loads via heart rate and GPS analysis, creating training and match day nutritional strategies for players, planning prehabilitation programmes and assisting with rehabilitation programmes and training
